Caroline Gets Flack From All Directions

Harry StylesOn the front page of The Sun, "Been Up All Night, Harry?"

While it looks like Frank Bruno has started writing for them, it's actually about Harry from One Direction. He's been dating Caroline Flack and by the look of it, he stayed over at her place.

He left her house wearing messy clothes and untidy hair, which probably took him ages to get just right, so he must've been there some time.

It seems fair enough. When two celebs start dating we all pray they don't end up with their own ITV2 show but other than that, good luck to them. But not this time. There has been a lot of talk about their age gap and this latest stop over has made it worse.

The 17-year-old One Direction heart-throb arrived at 32-year-old Caroline's house at 10pm on Monday carrying his overnight bag.

10pm! On a school night!

Some people have been making a big deal about the fact that she is old enough to be his mother, or in parts of the north, grandmother.

It's interesting because normally when an older female celeb dates a younger man the Daily Mail makes the stale point along the lines of, "No one bats an eyelid when it's an older man with a younger woman..."

Firstly, people are judgemental of those relationships. No one ever sees an old man with a stunningly beautiful twenty-something and thinks, "I wonder where he signs on?"

And secondly, if a 32-year-old man was dating a 17-year-old girl the Daily Mail would try to get him put on the sex offenders register.

And it's not just the press having a go at them. Caroline has been getting hate mail and death threats from One Directions fans. Come on now. If you're an emotional and spotty teen who's in love with your Harry poster please don't think that if it wasn't for Caroline you'd be with him.

Caroline said recently: "I keep thinking, 'What have I done wrong?' But I haven't done anything wrong. What's hard for me to get my head around is people saying it's disgusting. I don't think it is."

It's not about whether it's disgusting or not, the point is, it is none of our business. No good will come of sticking out noses into other people's private lives. It doesn't even make for good TV and radio. Let me show what I mean. I actually heard a phone in on the radio about their age gap where the DJ said, "She's 15 years older than he is. But would it be worse the other way round?"

Yes it would. If it were the other way round, he'd be dating a 2-year-old.
